Vare Launches State Senate District 31 Campaign
FISHERS, Ind. – Jocelyn Vare today announced that she will seek the new District 31 Indiana State Senate seat in 2022. Vare formed her official exploratory committee with the Indiana Election Division on October 26, 2021. State Senate District 31 was redrawn in 2021 to include all of Fishers, Geist, and parts of Noblesville and the Northeast Side of Indianapolis.
As an at-large city council member for the City of Fishers, Vare is well-known for listening to residents and holding politicians accountable. She was the first Democrat elected to municipal office in the city of Fishers and won her election with strong bipartisan support, including an endorsement from the Fiscal Conservatives of Hamilton County.
“Everyone deserves a public servant who represents them – someone who puts them first, works hard, and thinks independently,” said Vare adamantly. “I am that public servant. I have always been centered by local issues that make a difference in people’s lives, like caring for our neighborhoods and educating our kids.”
Despite internal council pressure to melt into the fold of the supermajority, Vare has maintained her autonomy on behalf of the residents who voted for her. Her open-door policy and demands for government transparency resonate with Fishers residents and she will bring the same ethical practice to her service for all voters in Indiana State Senate District 31.
Vare embraces her reputation for shining a light on decisions others would prefer to leave behind closed doors. An unapologetic independent thinker, she always returns to the promises she made to and keeps for residents, “In the end, neighbors in Fishers know my skills as an active listener and coalition builder and I look forward to bringing those skills to work for even more Hoosiers.”
Vare’s announcement coincides with the launch of her listening tour in the newly formed Senate District 31. Vare will use the tour to hear what residents need from their new state senator and grow her coalition in a new district. Residents of State Senate District 31 can request a meeting with Vare by emailing hello@JocelynVareforIndiana.com or visit her website for information on upcoming events.
Vare launches her bid with a fully formed exploratory committee and team of 10 dedicated volunteer campaign staff who share her vision. “The support I have received so far has been overwhelming,” says Vare, emphasizing that she finalized her decision to run based on encouragement from the community. “I am inspired by their faith in me and appreciate all the volunteers who have already stepped forward to help. We will do this together!”
